A Flash Flood Emergency has been declared in Charleston due to life-threatening flooding caused by Tropical Storm Irma. Portions of the Charleston peninsula are being closed and travel is highly unadvised.

The outer bands of Tropical Storm Irma are bringing heavy rain, wind and tornadoes to coastal communities along the Georgia and South Carolina coast.
Irma's onshore wind, combined with heavy rain and high coastal tide, is resulting in coastal flooding. Around 1p et, the tide was measured at about ten feet and climbing.
