Sarah Fortner, of WCNC-TV in Charlotte, NC, and Kelly Dobeck, WRDW/WAGT-TV in Augusta, GA, join the Carolina Weather Group to discuss being a woman in the television meteorology field, an industry largerly populated by men.
Fortner is a graduate of Florida State University. On this week's show, she shared how she started in meteorology before switching her studies to account finances. Within a few months, she switched back to weather - her true passion.
Both Fortner and Dobeck explained they were often the only women in their atmospheric science classes.
Dobeck, originally of Cleveland, Ohio, is a graduate of the University of North Carolina Asheville. On this week's show, Dobeck shares a story about her dad, who installed a weather station on her backyard playset.
During the broadcast, both meteorologists discovered they share a mentor, WKYC chief meteorologist Betsy Kling.
