Newton, North Carolina
Joey was born and raised in Newton,NC and has been chasing storms since he was 14. Joey, along with whoever he could convince to drive him, would chase all across North and South Carolina. He learned everything he knows about weather the hard way: the "hands on" way. Joey will tell you that missing a storm will always hurt more than any $5,000 bill for hail damage to his vehicle. Which he admits has happened more than once.
Joey spent most of his adult life working in sales and was a very successful as a business manager for a local motorcycle dealership, where he helped them become one of the most improved dealerships in the nation. He's a devout supporter of his alma-mater, Newton Conover High School, and Florida Gator football. Joey has been known to be a great psychiatrist to his friends and is now known as "Uncle Joey" to many kids who are actually of no blood relation. He also has a habit of ending every conversation with an, "I love you," even if it's with strangers. Which, he will admit, has made things a little awkward at times, but he truly believes in "loving thy neighbor."
Since retiring from sales, Joey went on to create Catawba County Weather, which merged with Burke Weather to become the Foothills Weather Network. Catawba County Weather went from being a small company with only a few followers to gaining national attention during the Catawba County flood event in 2013. Their 24/7 coverage of the event was cited as the source of information for all the major national news outlets.

When Joey isn't making jokes on the show, he is known for asking the tough controversial question, while always reminding us that, "Controversy creates cash." His experience out in the field chasing storms is always a fresh prospective in our conversations. Joey can also be seen in your local elementary schools doing weather presentations. He enjoys telling his storm chasing stories and answering all the questions thrown at him by the kids
